An Olmec Standing Figure Holding a Were-Jaguar Baby

Join Jennifer Casler Price, senior curator of Asian, African, and Ancient American art, to learn more about the Kimbell’s most recent acquisition. Extremely refined and masterfully carved from precious jade, Standing Figure Holding a Were-Jaguar Baby (c. 900–300 BC) is considered by many scholars to be the most beautiful Olmec work in the world. The program will begin with a brief presentation in the Pavilion Auditorium, followed by a viewing and discussion of the new acquisition in the pavilion’s north gallery.
